Utilities, phone, cable, gas, water, garbage pickup…the list seems almost endless.  But most people who live in Alexander City don’t have to make calls to all of those companies.  Many city residents can simply contact the City of Alexander City for their electricity, gas, water service, sewerage and garbage pickup needs.  And even better, all of these services are even billed together.  Some residents are served by Alabama Power.  However, those residents still use city gas, water, sewerage and garbage.

City Utilities
The Alexander City Utility Department is located downtown in City Hall.  Electricity, gas, water, sewerage and garbage bills are paid there.  Advanced Disposal handles garbage collection outside the city limits.  The phone number to the Alexander City Utility Department is 256-329-6710.

County Utilities
People who live outside the Alexander City service area should contact Alabama Power for their electricity.  Residents should call 256-234-2431 or stop by the office at 724 Commerce Drive to begin service.  The phone is also answered 24 hours a day at 1-800-243-2244.

Phone Service
Residents should call AT&T at 1-888-757-6500 to establish telephone service in Alexander City. 

Cable Television
Charter Communications provides cable service for the Alexander City area.  To begin cable service, call Charter Communications at 1-866-447-4188.

Post Office
The post office is located at the corner of South Central Avenue and Lee Street.  The phone number is 256-234-3541.

Driver’s License/Tags
New driver’s licenses and vehicle license tags may be obtained from the probate office at the Tallapoosa County Courthouse in Dadeville Monday-Friday.  Car tags may also be obtained in Alexander City on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at the C.J. Coley Courthouse Annex.  The Dadeville probate office phone number is 256-825-4266.  The Alexander City phone number is 256-234-3264.
