Considered one of the finest libraries in Central Alabama, the Adelia M. Russell Public Library houses a massive inventory of books and periodicals.  Located in the heart of downtown, the Adelia M. Russell Library hosts summer reading programs, exhibits, poetry readings, book signings, heirloom quilts exhibits and more.

Mamie’s Place Children’s Library is nestled next door to the main library, and is the only free-standing dedicated children’s library in Alabama. Mamie’s Place celebrates National Library Week each April with poetry readings, book signings and special visits from book characters during the popular “story book hour.”
