Centrally located on the 350-mile corridor from Birmingham, AL, to Columbus, GA, the completion of US 280 in 2006 provides direct 4-lane access to I-20, I-459, I-59, I-65 and I-85.  Atlanta’s Hartsfield Airport is within two hours driving distance. Interstate travel is just 35 minutes away.

Annual Traffic Counts on US Highway 280 primarily improve, with increases nearing 10% each year in certain locations, with ALDOT average count of 17,985. Statistics are derived from using the same 8 highway points.

Alexander City is home to Russell Corporation, an international, billion-dollar corporation, founded by Benjamin Russell in 1902. Berkshire Hathaway purchased Russell Corporation and all of its brands and holdings in August 2006.  Now known as Russell Brands, they employ hundreds of area residents in the manufacturing complex located in the heart of Historic Alexander City.  Corporate headquarters for Aliant Corporation, Russell Lands on Lake Martin, Skilstaf, Robinson Iron, Wellborn Forest Products, AmTech, SL Alabama and Madix are also located in the Alexander City / Lake Martin area.

Russell Lands On Lake Martin is developing a 17-acre tract on US 280 for commercial use.  The first tenant, Ruby Tuesday opened in April, 2007. Regions Bank completed construction and opened in June 2008.  Additional sites are available for development.
