Boating and Fishing
Whether a graceful glide to one of the lakeside restaurants for dinner, a moonlight cruise, waterskiing adventure or Fourth of July fireworks pontoon ride, lake recreation is an active part of the Lake Martin lifestyle. Lake Martin’s marinas offer dry stack storage, marina stores with fishing, apparel and boating supplies, full-time service technicians and dockside fueling. Pontoon boats are available for rent at the marinas as are a variety of other watercraft. Canoes and kayaks are available during the season from Russell Crossroad’s Adventure Center.
With more than 750 miles of shoreline, a host of outdoor recreational opportunities are only steps from your front door or dock. And while swimming, jet skiing and boating are popular outdoor pastimes for Lake Martin residents, fishing has become a staple along these beautiful waters.
Scores of largemouth and white bass, bream, crappie and catfish populate this 44,000-acre lake. But the lake's most prized catches are the striped bass and their hybrid cousins that test any angler's skill and tackle. Both strong and persistent fighters, the striper and the hybrid—a cross between the striped and white bass—are favorites of the sportsman, whether on the line or on the table.
Helping grow enthusiasm in the sport, professional and amateur fishermen alike can take part in tournaments around the lake or take off on your own exploration. |
